How to delete individual quiz responses in Microsoft Forms

When users, or “respondants” complete a quiz or survey using Microsoft Forms, the response is saved and can be viewed at any time. By default, each user is provided an option to Submit another response at the end of the form submission. Forms allows you to restrict form submissions to one response per person. This is useful for assessment-based forms where you do not want respondents to complete the form multiple times.

What happens when someone has completed the quiz or survey and they need another attempt? The Form won’t allow them to complete it a second time. Here I want to show you how you can go into your Form responses and delete an individual response, which then allows the user to complete the form again.

Delete an individual response

Each response received for a form or quiz can be deleted individually. The person may have incorrectly filled out the wrong form or answered incorrectly and you need to delete the data and allow them another attempt.

1. Go to the Forms home page at https://forms.microsoft.com/.
2. Log in with your Microsoft 365 username and password if prompted.
3. Click to open the survey or quiz that needs to have a response deleted.
4. Click the View responses button:

5. An overview will now appear showing you the total number of responses, average score and average time.
6. Click Review answers:

7. Use the navigation tools to browse through the responses to locate the one you wish to delete:

8. With the response displayed, click the ellipsis (…) button:

9. Select Delete response.
10. A prompt will appear asking you to confirm you wish to delete:

11. Click Delete.
12. The response is deleted.

How to delete all responses in a Form

If you wish to clear all responses out from a form or quiz, you can easily delete all responses in one action.

1. Click View Responses as previously shown.
2. Do not open the Review answers section.
3. Click the ellipsis (…) button:

4. Select Delete all responses.
5. A prompt will appear asking you to confirm you wish to delete:

6. Click Delete.
7. All responses will be deleted.
